A journey through time

The Hotel Krone in Dornbirn looks back on a long and eventful history dating back to 1816. For almost two centuries, the Krone has stood for warm hospitality and consistent quality that has been passed down from generation to generation.

The history of "der krone" is the history of our family

Our mother and grandmother Maria Rhomberg played a major role in this. She developed the house from a simple "tavern" into an inn with a few rooms. And she did this as a widowed woman with two small children. Maria Rhomberg did such a good job that the guest house was soon added. Her two sons initially helped her in the kitchen. Thomas Rhomberg gradually took over the role of warm host.

I was really impressed that my grandmother built and ran the house on her own - that was very unusual for a woman back then.

Addition of the guest house with 30 beds

the expansion of the restaurant business to approx. 280 seats took place.

The main building with 49 rooms was built

The hosts opened the garden villa opposite the main building with 14 additional rooms. A strong sign for the further development of the Krone Hotel.

The Thomas Rhomberg family took over the Krone Hotel as sole managing director.

Thomas, his wife Christine and daughter Bettina set a pioneering example for their Krone Hotel: the winter garden was opened. "We wanted to bring in brightness and create a space where our guests are connected to the world outside," says Christine Rhomberg, explaining her idea for the creation of the light-flooded breakfast room.

The restaurant has been completely renovated. The removal of the dividing wall makes the restaurant more spacious overall and lots of light wood combined with mirrors make the room open and flooded with light. The modern furnishings, combined with memories from the past, reflect the long family tradition. Guests are treated to culinary delights in a cozy, modern atmosphere.

23 rooms were removed from the existing building and 48 new, air-conditioned rooms were created using the latest timber construction technology.

47 rooms in the main building (business category - building 2) were refurbished with new furniture and soundproof windows and air-conditioned.
