If you've ever been a guest at the Krone, you'll know Manuela. She has been the friendly face of the hotel reception for almost 20 years, since 2004. She is always in a good mood, has an open ear for all questions and takes care of our guests' concerns every day with full commitment and great pleasure.
Manuela, how did you come to work at the Krone?
Manuela: Before that, I worked in the Bregenzerwald for several seasons. I commuted back and forth between my home in Hörbranz, my place of work in Schoppernau and my place of study in Innsbruck for a few years. When I finished my degree in tourism management, this position was advertised here at the hotel as deputy receptionist. I thought it would be an exciting and new challenge for me and applied without further ado. It felt right from the start. And it still does.
So you've been an integral part of the Krone team for many years. What makes working here so special?
Manuela: D'Lüt (the people). We are a well-coordinated team. It's human, because everyone here knows they can be human with everything that goes with it. Our focus is clear. We know what we work for together: For hospitality. We all take great pleasure in this together. You can feel that and it makes the work here special.
You've been a receptionist for a long time. What are your tasks there?
Manuela: Everything (laughs). At reception, you are everything from hostess to information center to telephone operator. There's something for everyone. That's why it never gets boring and that's exactly what I like about it.
Is that also the best thing about your job?
Manuela: I've always known that I wanted to work with people. That makes my day-to-day work interesting and varied. I think the best thing about my job is that every day is different, there's no routine and you're constantly in contact with people. Always the same, that wouldn't be my world.
Antonio has been part of our kitchen team since 2019. Starters and desserts are his specialties. He is simply a super employee: super hard-working, super tidy, super helpful, super nice. That's why he immediately said yes when we asked him to answer a few questions.
Antonio, tell us your story, how did you end up at the Krone?
Antonio: My neighbor paved the way for me. I was hired here on his recommendation. That's the short story of how I ended up at the Krone.
What's the best thing about working at a well-known establishment like the Krone?
Antonio: Everyone here has so much knowledge and experience. That's fantastic. But the best thing is definitely the many great colleagues I have here.
Tell us about your working day?
Antonio: My day starts with preparations in the kitchen. The salad is washed and my workstation is made ready. Next on the to-do list are the deliveries. I make sure that everything is in the right place in the cold room. That's the important preparatory work. Once this is done, the preparations for the upcoming events begin. And then it's time to get started, the guests' orders start rolling in and the dishes have to be prepared.
For you, what's the best part of your working day?
Antonio: For me, the best part - my so-called work highlight - is when the dishes are served. It's so nice when the dishes we've prepared are really enjoyed. And when we get compliments from the guests, it's just the greatest thing.
Do you have a favorite crown dish?
Antonio: The colorful salad. It just tastes really good, fresh and is ordered very often. But: All our dishes are uniquely good. I like them all!
Which dish is ordered most often?
Antonio: The colorful salad. As I said, it's just really good.
Can you describe your workplace in three words?
Antonio: Team, colourful, organized
Mukki, you've been with us at the Krone since 2004, what has changed for you since then?
Mukki: A lot has changed. I started out as a chambermaid. Today, I'm a governess and responsible for a team of 12 employees.
What does your job involve?
Mukki: Of course, keeping the whole house clean is very important. But there's a lot more: I'm also responsible for creating the roster for our team and the laundry. I am also responsible for purchasing in my areas. I have to keep track of detergents, cleaning supplies, laundry supplies and so on and always remember to order enough of everything at the right time. So that we always have everything we need on site.
Tell us what a typical working day looks like for you?
Mukki: I start the working day with a tour of the building. Then I know how I have to organize the employees for the day. The tasks are then distributed in the team meeting. In the laundry, work starts between 8 and 9 a.m., shortly after which the chambermaids go to their respective floors. I'm always happy to help out where there's a need, or in our case, where there's a need. We are simply a great team. That's why we always look forward to lunch together at 11 o'clock. It's just part of it. Then we get back to work. Because there's always enough to do. At the end of the working day, it's very important for us to go through the day together. It's simply good for everyone.
How would you describe your team?
Mukki: We are all lovely, hard-working "bunnies" (laughs). We come from different countries, but we are one big unit. We speak different languages, but that doesn't stop us from communicating with each other and having fun at work together.
When do you go home happy?
Mukki: When everything has gone smoothly, we ALL go home happy and satisfied.
