Feldkirch – Hotel Krone, Dornbirn
The second largest city in Vorarlberg is Feldkirch. This most Western Austrian city offers many interesting sights for a day trip.
Feldkirch is located right at the boarder to Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein and, compared to Dornbirn, has a long and rich history, which is reflected in numerous of its medieval buildings in the Old Town. The town’s landmark is the Schattenburg, a castle built in the 12th century, towering over the Old Town of Feldkirch.
Other well worth seeing parts of the city are the “Katzenturm” (cat tower), the “Pulverturm” (gun powder tower), the “Tostner Burg” and the old city wall, as well as the Palais Liechtenstein and the Villa Muther. The city also bears historic significance as the cradle of Austrian soccer, as British students brought this sport to Austria in 1874, making it one of Austria’s most popular sports today.
Depending on the season, Feldkirch offers a variety of events, such as the advent carol singing, the ArtDesign-exhibition, the Feldkirch Festival, the Poolbar-Festival or the Wine Fest. Go to the room inquiry form for the Hotel Krone.
