Bregenz Festival – Hotel Krone, Dornbirn
During summertime, the Bregenz Festival offers its guests opera, orchestral concerts, operetta, drama and much more. This annual summer festival is Vorarlberg’s cultural highlight.
Located only a few kilometers from the Hotel Krone in Dornbirn, the performances at the Bregenz Festival are just minutes away. Enjoy a glorious opera on the world’s largest floating stage, or in the architecturally fascinating opera house. Apart from the operas, orchestral concerts, operettas and drama performances, contemporary productions are increasingly brought into the limelight.
From its humble beginnings in 1946, the Bregenz Festival has evolved into a very significant and prestigious festival, with its productions, artists and technology at the highest international standard. In 2007, Giaccomo Puccini’s opera “Tosca” was the highlight of the festival, and is also the feature performance for the 2008 summer season on the phenomenal stage on Lake Constance.
In summer, 2011 the opera is performed by Umberto Giordano "Andre Chénier". It is as if Andre Chénier has been composed only for the Bregenzer sea stage. This opera offers the perfect mixture for the place. Giordanos music is Verismo of very first goodness and speeds up the highly exciting plot at breathtaking speed.
Opera in four acts into Italian language.
By request, the Hotel Krone can provide you with tickets for the Bregenz Festival and even arrange a glimpse backstage. A special shuttle bus will get you to this cultural highlight in Bregenz and back to Dornbirn again after the performance. Whether you are planning a long stay in Vorarlberg, or just a quick stop-over, a Bregenz Festival production will leave you enchanted.
